Following the discovery and disclosure of an intimate partner's compulsive sexual behaviour or sexual addiction, many life-altering effects can haunt affected relationships for a long time. In a committed relationship, revelation of compulsive sexual behaviour or sexual addiction can notably contribute to betrayal trauma reactions in the betrayed spouse.
A basic summary of sexual addiction and its effects on the intimate partner will be provided in the following research-based presentation.
