The training was even better than I thought it would be. The three-day course was very well organised and covered everything we would need to know for our future roles as supervisors."
Dr Fai Seyed

"Tracey ranked every question, no matter how small or big, and related them all to Practise in a very smart way.

Supervision is like having a coach for a team or a teacher to help you learn. It's when someone who is more experienced, like a counsellor or therapist, helps guide another person who is less experienced, like a child, to do their job better.

Think of it like playing a sport. Your coach teaches you the rules, helps you practice, and gives you feedback on how to improve. In the same way, a counsellor who is supervising another counsellor, will help teach them the best ways to help people who are going through a tough time.

It is important for several reasons. It helps the person who is being supervised to become a better counsellor and to better help people who need support.

The person who is supervising can also make sure that the person who is being supervised is doing things in a safe and healthy way.

Here are some other things that supervision can do:

  • Teach new skills and techniques
  • Give guidance on difficult cases
  • Offer support and encouragement
  • Provide a safe space to discuss challenges and find solutions
  • Help the person being supervised to reflect on their work and learn from it
  • Ensure that the person being supervised is following ethical and professional guidelines

In short, it is like having a mentor to help you grow and succeed in your job. It's important for mental health professionals to have supervision because it helps them provide better care to the people they are trying to help.

The participants will learn how to build a useful clinical supervision relationship that helps the supervised person learn and develop their skills, while also taking into account the workplace as a whole, the way their team works, and the needs of their clients.
